As part of our new federally funded Center on Secondary Education for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (CSESA), we will be collaborating with Tennessee high schools to develop, implement, and evaluate a social-focused intervention to promote social success and foster connections with peers and others. We recently completed eight focus groups with over 60 educators, administrators, parents, service providers, community members, and parents of high school students with autism. Participants shared their ideas on how best to support youth and young adults with autism to thrive socially, and we are using their feedback to develop an intervention that will be effective and doable in everyday schools. While our focus groups are completed, we are still doing interviews with youth/young adults with ASD. Please see the “Have ASD?” tab for more information.
